1. Who we are

Kindra ("we", "us", "our") is an LGBTQ+ dating application accessible at trykindra.app and via our Android app. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

2. What we collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the service:

• Account data — your email address, used to send your sign-in link. No password is stored.
• Profile data — your display name, birthdate, gender identity, sexual orientation, bio, and photos that you choose to share.
• Location data — a general location (city-level precision) if you enable discovery. We never log your precise GPS coordinates, and the raw value is discarded immediately after calculating match distances.
• Device data — device platform (Android/iOS) and push notification token, used to deliver match and message alerts.
• Usage data — swipe interactions and in-app activity, used solely to power match recommendations. This is never sold.

3. How we use your data

• To authenticate your account via magic links.
• To show your profile to other users in the discovery feed.
• To deliver push notifications for matches and messages.
• To improve match quality through anonymised analytics.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your data, show you third-party ads, or share your information with data brokers.

4. Sensitive data

Your gender identity, sexual orientation, and relationship preferences are sensitive categories under GDPR and equivalent laws. You provide this information voluntarily to use a dating service. We store it encrypted at rest and only use it for matching and profile display.

We will never share your identity or orientation data with employers, governments, or advertisers.

5. Photo storage

Photos you upload are stored on our private file server (files.trykindra.app). Photos go through automated moderation before being shown to other users. Deleted photos are purged within 30 days.

6. Third parties

We use a small number of trusted sub-processors:

• Resend — transactional email (your sign-in link). They only receive your email address.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notifications. FCM tokens are never linked to your profile publicly.

7. Data retention

• Active accounts: data is kept as long as your account exists.
• Deleted accounts: all personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days. This includes profile, photos, match history, and messages.
• Sign-in magic links: expire after 15 minutes and are purged daily.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access a copy of your personal data.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Delete your account and all associated data.
• Restrict or object to certain processing.
• Data portability.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@trykindra.app or use the "Delete account" option in the app under Me → Account.

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to the production database is restricted to authenticated systems and is never accessible from the public internet.

10. Children

Kindra is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has registered, please contact us immediately and we will delete the account.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Kindra after changes constitutes acceptance.
